Born in Mexico City in 1986; 2008 graduate in Industrial Design from the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana - Azcapotzalco.
Joel Escalona is a designer who has made from furniture, household objects, interiors and spare author to creative direction and consultancy for various companies.
Besides collaborating with various companies, industries and producers Joel has worked as a strategist developing business models, co-founding and directing creative businesses as a jewelry brand a furniture company and a cooperative design.
His work has been exhibited in major design capitals of the world like New York, Paris, Milan and of course Mexico City. Escalona was selected to participate in ICFF Studio at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, invited to represent the young design in South America at Maison & Objet on display Talents À La Carte Paris and at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile Di Milan and Beijing Design Fair.
Honored for his work on icons for Architectural Digest Awards of Conde Nast and the 6th Biennial of Design, one of the most prestigious awards in Mexico. His designs have been included in several exhibitions and retrospectives of Mexican design in locations such as the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico, the Franz Mayer Museum and the National Palace of Fine Arts.
Listed as one of the top 200 designers from Mexico in the book "From Creativity to Innovation - 200 Mexicanos Designers" Joel Escalona has been published in specialized books in London, Spain, Mexico and France and included in the annual directory of designers youth magazine Wallpaper *, selected as one of the "50 Emerging Talents of the Americas" by the magazine Arquine and published in the selection of young extraordinary publication GQ. His work has been published in major magazines, covers of publications and reviewed by the most influential Internet websites generating exciting editorial value for its customers and partners.
Currently besides being director in his design studio, is the creative director Joel Brand NONO contemporary furnishings as well as co-founder and active member of Cooperative Panoramic which is a group of six young Mexican designers exploring new territories design.
